This page features answers to some common questions you may have regarding downloadable audiobooks and OverDrive.

What is OverDrive?
OverDrive has been a leader in delivering digital content for over 20 years. We currently offer over 850 titles from their catalog and continue to add more titles on a weekly basis.
OverDrive downloadable audiobooks can be accessed in either of two ways. By searching the BCCLS catalog at www.bccls.org or by visiting www.listennjnw.org and logging in.
What is www.listennjnw.org?
www.listennjnw.org is the website that provides access to our downloadable audiobook content from OverDrive. It is an initiative of the Highlands Regional Library Cooperative of which BCCLS is a participating member.

Is there a demo?
OverDrive has created a very thorough and instructive demo that will guide you through the entire process. OVERDRIVE MEDIA CONSOLE
Do I need any special software to download and listen to audiobooks from OverDrive?
In order to borrow, download and listen to OverDrive's digital audiobooks, you must download and install the OverDrive Media Console.
The OverDrive Media Console is available for desktop and laptop computers with Microsoft Windows operating systems. This free software is easily and quickly installed and can be found with installation instructions via the following link:

How can I access downloadable audiobooks from OverDrive?
As a patron of a BCCLS library, you have full access to OverDrive's downloadable audiobook content available at www.listennjnw.org. To log in, visit
www.listennjnw.org and click Login. Select Bergen County Cooperative Library System as your home library and enter your 14-digit library card number in the Library Card Number field.

ListenNJNW.org now has over 100 downloadable MP3 audiobooks in its catalog that are
compatible with iPod products, iPhone, and Macs!

As with any collection we're starting out small so it's important that you keep
checking back for new titles as the collection grows.
For your information, there are links to all the MP3 titles, the original WMA
titles, and to ALL downloadable audiobooks on the homepage of the ListenNJNW
website. Collectively there are over 1200 unique titles - 135 in the new format-- with
more titles added on a regular basis.

SEARCHING TIPS - BCCLS CATALOG
Can I search the BCCLS catalog to find downloadable audiobooks?
Yes, there are several ways of searching the BCCLS catalog to find downloadable audiobooks from OverDrive. If you are browsing and wish to see the
entire collection, perform a search for downloadable OverDrive.
If you wish to search for a particular item, add those terms (downloadable OverDrive) to your query.
Example: A search for evanovich downloadable OverDrive will yield all the downloadable audiobooks of works by Janet Evanovich.
If you wish to download one of the titles in the hit list, click on the "View all information/or Download this Audiobook" link for that item and then click on the Download Link.
This will bring you directly to that item on the www.listennjnw.org website, but you will still be required to log in if you wish to check out and download the item. Be sure to select Bergen County Cooperative Library System and have your library card number handy.
SEARCHING TIPS - LISTENNJNW.ORG
Can I search listennjnw.org to find downloadable audiobooks?
Yes, there are various ways to search for content at listennjnw.org. You may perform both basic and advanced searches (including searching by literary awards). Additionally,
listennjnw.org allows you to browse the collection by genre, popularity, availability, new titles, etc.
What if a title I want is checked out?
OverDrive's titles are purchased individually. This means that if three copies of a title are purchased, three people may listen to it at the same
time. If a fourth person wants that title, they can place a hold and will be notified via email when their requested title is available. At that time,
you have 72 hours to check-out the title to your library card, if not, it will be offered to the next patron on the queue and you will have place another
hold on the title.
Is there a way to know which titles are currently available?
Yes, there is a function that allows you to see all the titles that are currently available. Check the box before 'Only show titles with copies
available' and click the 'Go' button to see a complete list.
RECOMMENDED PLAYERS
Besides listening to the audiobooks on your desktop or laptop computer, downloadable audiobooks can be transferred to portable listening devices that support DRM (Digital Rights Management) copyright protected WMA (Windows Media Audio) files at 32 kbps. The OverDrive site offers a very thorough list of compatible players.
